Commissioned by the Islands District Office and designed and crafted by ARTA Architects, “Island Voyage” is a set of practical installation art that captures the essence of the Islands District, Hong Kong’s largest administrative district, through its elegant, simplified forms. Primarily serving as community furniture for public use, the installation reflects the District’s distinct landscapes and waters, as well as the unique histories of each island therein. The differing heights of each piece in this installation signifies the various sizes of the islands in the District.

The installation “Flight of Dreams” features over 300 paper airplanes, each a nostalgic echo of childhood memories. Suspended over the Tung Chung East Promenade, these delicate creations soar toward the Hong Kong International Airport, carrying with them the spirit of adventure and exploration. The vibrant-coloured gradients, inspired by the hues of sunrise, symbolise hopes and dreams taking flight. As you gaze upwards, consider the boundless potential that accompanies each new day and reflect on your own aspirations and journeys that lie ahead!
